Greek Singer First in American Competition Among 6,000 Participants

The young singer and songwriter Leon of Athens (Timoleon Veremis) managed to finish first in the category of Folk/Singer-Songwriter of the International Song Contest ”Unsigned Only Music” in Nashville, Tennessee, USA, where more than 6,000 participants competed in various categories.
The winners are chosen by well-known artists and people from leading music industries. Among them this year were: Aimee Mann, Grouplove, O.A.R., Frank Foster, David Crowder, Aaron Shust, Jack Ingram, and Lydia Loveless.
”Being first in a such difficult category is amazing and Leon of Athens represents all these amazing talents: Creativity, uniqueness and the ability to create long-lasting music” said Candace Avery and Jim Morgan, the founders of the competition.
Leon of Athens’ music is inspired by his life in Greece but also by modern-day issues like the migration crisis, the rise of Fascism in Europe, Brexit and more, while personal influences are not missing, mainly concerning issues like youth, freedom, life and death.
This Winter, Leon of Athens will make his third tour in the USA, around the East Coast this time and he will participate in big festivals like South by Southwest, and the Firefly Music Festival.
The song that gave Leon of Athens first place is ‘Aeroplane’:
